and i am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. [philippians 1:6]

tetelestai. it is finished. the finished work of Christ, perfectly sinless, fully covered our sin, perfectly. but the continued transforming work of Christ is a process until we meet him in glory.

it brought paul joy to write to the philippi church that he had started many years prior in which he had been the benefactor of their generosity. paul encouraged them of their salvation and that the work Jesus started, he will complete.

“holy scripture does not regard a man as perfect when the soul is perfected, it regards his body as being a part of himself; and as the body will not rise again from the grave till the coming of the Lord Jesus, when we shall be revealed in the perfection of our manhood, even as he will be revealed, that day of the second coming is set as the day of the finished work which God hath begun.” (spurgeon)

where has God started a work in you? what sanctification is He doing in you?
