and it became known to all the inhabitants of jerusalem, so that the field was called in their own language akeldama, that is, field of blood. “for it is written in the book of psalms,“ ‘may his camp become desolate,
 and let there be no one to dwell in it’; and “ ‘let another take his office.’ ” [acts 1:19-20]
 
faith is more than seeing
for those who say, if only they’d see a miracle—then they’d believe in Jesus—here is a man who saw miracles regularly. here is a man who spent three years watching Jesus never sin once, and yet he betrayed the Son of God. God can use the miraculous to stir up faith, but miracles are no guarantee. we depend on God even for our faith!
Father, give us faith to believe in your power, to work and to save. in our flesh we doubt; teach us to crucify the doubt in our flesh as we grow in our trust of you!
