then jacob called his sons and said, “gather yourselves together, that i may tell you what shall happen to you in days to come. “assemble and listen, o sons of jacob, listen to israel your father. [genesis 49:1-2]

will you listen and follow his words?

God knows.

God’s knowledge is perfect, eternal, complete.

nothing is hidden from his eyes – no action, no motive, no thought, no desire – nothing is hidden from his eyes!

God knows.

if this is true. if God completely and sovereignly knows all things – then the implications are vast.

please, take a moment and make a list right now. write down as many implications as the Spirit leads you to see.

wait on the LORD. take a moment. then write.

now look at your list!

this should stir your heart to worship – to praise and thanksgiving, to awe and rejoicing, to hope and rest.

whatever is on your list – the implications should have this in common:

there are things God is and does, knows and controls, oversees and provides – that only he does.

and because of this

there are things we can know, hope, trust, and rest upon in our LORD.

today, let me add one more.

maybe it is on your list – maybe, not.

but here it is:

if God knows all things, completely and sovereignly – we must listen to his words and follow them!

God knows!

o LORD, let us listen and follow you! for you alone have the words of life. you alone are the bread of life. you alone satisfy our life. speak and we will follow!

the law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. more to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. [psalm 19:7-11]

here is a link to our advent devos. if you need, want more time listening to his voice this morning. go to this link and go to the writing for 12/8 … and listen and follow.
