[4] likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.    [5] for while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. [6] but now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. [rom 7:4-6]

ever sat down at a meal and been astounded by the vast array of fabulous foods in front of you. the beauty of the feast, the aroma of the various dishes, and the site of your favorite foods resulted in your mouth watering and your stomach issuing a low growl.

anticipation of real satisfaction – creates hunger.

this passage – is a rich and robust word from our Father full of a wealth of meat to feed and nurture our souls. believe me – there is much to feast on in this passage. please, take the following encouragements and be satisfied in the presence of our Lord.

  1. take a moment to pray – asking the Lord to remind you of his real and powerful presence in you through the work of Jesus Christ.
  2. submit to the Spirit’s rule and voice and ask him to cause you to abide in these words and his presence all day.
  3. tell him where you are, what is happening in your life and heart, and pour out any celebration, grief, or requests.
  4. finally, ask him to speak through his word. read the whole passage again, then, take it verse by verse – notice who God is in this passage, what is he asking you to believe or do, and how is he telling you he will be the source of your power to live out what he is calling you to.

enjoy this moment – enjoy the LORD – enjoy his presence!
