and because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” [galatians 4:6]

bearing the Son’s identity – gives us intimacy with the Father.

because you are sons, …

we are adopted sons and daughters of God the Father. we didn’t earn this adoption. rather, it was paid for by God the Son, through his blood, his work on behalf. and because of his work, we bear the his identity in us.

God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts …

God the Father imbued us with his Son’s Spirit. we are united with Christ forever in our adoption. we are his and we bear his identity because he is in us. that means, we are his and we reflect his image as we were created to do from the very beginning. [genesis 1:26-27]

crying, “Abba! Father!”

with identity – comes intimacy. God the Son and God the Father are one – which makes us one with God. God the Son has full access to God the Father – which gives us the same access to God. because we have the Son’s identity – we have his intimacy with the Father.

what does this mean?

it means …

– you can come to the Father when you are celebrating,

– you can come to the Father when you are grieving,

– you can come to the Father when you are confused,

– you can come to the Father when you are rejoicing,

– you can come to the Father when you are sad.

– you can come to the Father when you need wisdom,

– you can come to the Father when you need peace,

– you can come to the Father when you need hope,

– you can come to the Father when you need mercy,

– you can come to the Father when you need comfort,

it means you can cry out, “Daddy (Abba) – hear me, i need you!” and he hears and responds because he is intimately united with you and a part of you by his Jesus, his Son.

bearing the Son’s identity – gives us intimacy with the Father.

how do you need your heavenly Dad today? call out! he is listening and waiting. he longs to respond to his kids.
