i rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil. [psalm 119:162]

rejoice:  re – joice

rejoice:  to return to the source of joy

i learned a long time ago (at least my brain did), that the word rejoice in the hebrew can mean to return to the source of joy. in other words, every time you see the word rejoice, God is calling us to return to HIM, who alone is the one and only source of our joy.

you make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; [ps 16:11]

here is a practical way to pursue joy amidst whatever situation you find yourself today.

i rejoice at your word …

return, turn and run to the source of joy – Jesus. and, the most sure place we encounter him is in his word. HE is the Word. (john 1:1) everything about the word – points us to Jesus our source of joy by his presence. so today, return to the source of joy …

like one who finds great spoil.

stop.

slow your mind.

open the word, HIS Word.

and right now, in this moment, return to the source of joy – Jesus.

he is waiting.

Lord, help us believe you are the only source of joy!

in Jesus name, our joy – amen!

[if you need a place to read this morning, go to psalm 16:1-11. enjoy his presence.]
