though the cords of the wicked ensnare me, i do not forget your law. [psalm 119:61]
there are a lot of reasons we “forget” the law or the word(s) of God. we forget because …
- we are focused on our words.
- we are defined by other’s words.
- we do not know God’s words.
- we have not been living in God’s words.
- we value other’s words more.
- we are deceived by false words.
the list could go on and on and on …
have you forgotten the word(s) of God for your life today?
or, is this a day you remember his words, have memorized his words, have written them on your heart!
either way – his mercies are new today. his mercies are here for you and i because the love of God in Christ remembers you. he has not forgotten you. he has you written on his heart. he has you etched in his mind. the holes in Jesus’ hands bare your name. the hole in his feet cry out my name. he has not forgotten us because he carried us to the cross and paid for every moment you abandoned his word for another’s. there are that hill of death – he gave us his life by consuming our guilt, our shame. and now, he remember’s your name. he knows your name. he will never forget you.
today – let’s live in the power of his words, the power of his life, the power of the One who remembers you and i.
[11] the saying is trustworthy, for: if we have died with him, we will also live with him; [12] if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; [13] if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.
