your righteousness is righteous forever, and your law is true. [psalm 119:142]

Creator God is the standard of what is right. he is righteous, because there is no “righter” being created. and so everything he thinks and does is right. Creator God is the standard of what is true. he is truth, because their is no truer being created. and so everything he thinks and does is true. this is the way he has always been from eternity past, and the way he always will be for eternity future. praise him for his righteousness!

they shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. [psalm 145:7]

he made us in his image to see and know his righteousness in such a way that leads to righteousness. but through the fall of man, when sin entered the world, our righteousness was stained, made unclean, and our own sin blinds us to the righteousness of God. this is the reality of every human being, and without gracious intervention by our Creator, this is the way we would stay. confess this before the Lord!

as it is written: none is righteous, no, not one; [romans 3:10]

because man was so blind to the righteousness of God, he sent his righteousness to the earth in the form of his own Son, Jesus Christ. this shows the great measures the Creator is willing to go to in order that we might know him! he longs for us to see! thank him for his great mercy!

but now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it— [romans 3:21]

not only did Jesus come to show us God’s righteousness, and to be God’s righteousness… he gave up everything, even his perfect unity with his Father for a time, to bring us to God, and so that we could be made right once again, through his blood. cry out in praise for his glorious grace!

for our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. [2 corinthians 5:21]

not only does God make us righteous who come to him by the blood of Christ Jesus, he promises to show us his righteous ways and grow us in his righteous ways through the truth of his word. his word is his very breath, and has made it so accessible to us, that he might speak to us his very glory. thank him for his word, righteous and true! ask for hunger! ask for discipline! for where else can we go? Jesus Christ has the words of eternal life!

all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [2 timothy 3:16]
