i hate the double-minded, but i love your law. psalm 119:113
it isn’t that the psalmist hates people and loves Yahweh’s laws because that contradicts the same law that he claims to love. the psalmist hates all that is evil, as evidenced by his various ways of consistently describing this pattern of thought.
“but” being a conjunction combining two opposing independent thoughts, signifies that what he means by double-minded, of which is the only use of the word in hebrew, is anything opposing the love of the law, of God’s voice, of His words.
let love be genuine. abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. romans 12:9
how are you living out hating what is evil, while loving God and His people?
