blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! [psalm 119:1]
blessed~happy. what is the only thing that can bring true happiness? what is blessing? it is the glory of the presence of God.
[in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. psalm 16:11]
way~ the path of our life. our mode of operation. how we go about our day to day. this can be in our flesh or in the power and joy of the Spirit.
[make me to know your ways, o Lord; teach me your paths. psalm 25:4]
blameless~ living in such a way that no one can accuse you of wrong.
[for there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. rom 8:1]
[who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? it is God who justifies. rom 8:33]
walk~ live life. the way we act upon what we truly believe in our hearts.
[but i say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. gal 5:16]
law~ God’s revelation of his glory to man. his word to us. his presence with us. his goodness shown to us.
[moses said, “please show me your glory.” and he said, “i will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘the Lord.’ exodus 33:18-19]
Lord~ the God for whom and by whom all things were created, who called us out of darkness and into his marvelous light!
[worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created. rev 4:11]
i think we can all gather what the psalmist is saying here…
to anyone whom God has revealed his glory and goodness, who has been in and lives in the presence of the Creator, who lives life in the freedom of the blood of Christ, no longer under his wrath, God has given his perfect love that will cast out fear, which results in the blessing of eternal joy in God himself that cannot be taken away.
Father, please, show me your glory. make me to know your ways, and show me what joy inexpressible in your presence looks like. you are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power! may i delight in your glory, and may your goodness go with me all the day long. amen.
