then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. [ps 119:6]
what if shame could be removed from your experience. the shame that comes from unforgiven sin, that is stirred by our flesh (or other’s flesh), and is baked into an insidious pie by the enemy that you often find too hard to resist?
what if shame was gone from your spouse, your kids, your friends, your parents – you?
then i shall not be put to shame, having our eyes fixed on all your commandments.
the truth: as you fix our eyes on Jesus who is the word (john 1:1), the one who completely took your shame as he took on your sin and punishment – you and i will not be put to shame.
also true: when you fix our eyes on any and every place but Jesus, when you knowingly or unknowingly walk in darkness – you and i will get put to shame. even though it is not yours to carry any more.
o friend – fix your eyes on Jesus today.
o LORD, fix our eyes, our every thought on Jesus. help us now, in Jesus name, amen!
therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
