let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, i will meditate on your precepts. [psalm 119:78]

what is our response when people lie about us?

while the psalmist doesn’t say he won’t try and spread the truth and make the situation right, his primary response is to “meditate on [the Lord’s] precepts.” that is because his primary source of protection and identity is the Lord! sometimes the best way to find where our primary identity and security lie is to look where we “rush to” when something bad happens. where do you quickly go when you hear rumors about you are spreading?

Jesus, teach us to run quickly to You, as only You can do. help us to stop trusting in own ability to control what others think of us. we believe You will go before us; help us in our unbelief! teach us the peace that the flesh cannot understand, the peace that only comes from you.
