for whatever boasts i made to him about you, i was not put to shame. but just as everything we said to you was true, so also our boasting before titus has proved true. [2 corinthians 7:14]

boasting. not something we’re instructed to do often in the church. but it’s something we all do. we boast in our abilities. we boast in our looks. we boast in our doctrine. we boast in our children. but when was the last time you boasted in the Lord? paul here is standing in awe at the work of God in the hearts of the corinthians. how often do i step back and look at all the things God has and is currently doing in my heart, in my marriage, in my family, in discipleship, in lot family,  and in the hearts of those around me, and tell him how amazing he is for it? let’s do it now! today! sit in his glorious presence and let him bring to mind all that he has done. let our boast be in the faithful work of our faithful God. shout it out, write it down, phone a friend…the world needs to know!

my soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. [psalm 34:2]

thus says the Lord: “let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,  but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that i am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. for in these things i delight, declares the Lord.” [jer 9:24]

so that, as it is written, “let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”           [1 cor 1:31]

“let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” [2 cor 10:17]

but far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and i to the world. [gal 6:14]

for great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. [1 chron 16:25]

oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! [1 chron 16:8]

i will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; i will recount all of your wonderful deeds. [psalm 9:1]

praise the Lord! i will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. [psalm 111:1]
