all of these are simple but good diagnostic questions that help expose why you do what you do. read this short simple truth from God’s word again.

take some time right now and ask yourself a few of the questions above. are you doing “everything” – “in the name of the Lord Jesus.” that is, are you doing everything for him, for his name to be made much of, for his fame to be spread, for people to grown in their love for him? or, are you doing what you do for you, for your name, for your fame, for your comfort, for people to like you more? it is a simple question…

why do you do what you do?

and whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. [col 3:17]

LORD, may the thoughts of my heart and the words of my mouth and the actions of my life – be pleasing to you. may they make much of your name, be for your fame, and please your heart! expose the thoughts, and words, and actions of my life that are about me. as i see your unending forgiveness and your never-ending love for me in Christ, turn my heart from my desire to make much of me. because of your love, turn my heart toward you, increase my affection for you, grow my love for you. in Jesus great name, the name above all names – amen!
