and you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. [2 corinthians 3:3]
a letter, old school i know, but think of receiving a letter. all of paul’s books are letters. meant to convey the message of Christ. a letter shows intentionality, a letter welcomes, cares for, communicates with. we are each of us a letter from Christ. this is a command a present imperative, which means it is still ringing true. ‘you are a letter.’ this is the truth of us who are in Christ. sometimes, you are the first letter from Christ someone has ever read. this is why we must press into God. we must every day, every moment run to his presence. plead for him to be what others see in us. the letter is written, Christ wrote it, now you are it. the letter for others to see and read and know.
what does your life letter say?
but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. [gal 5:22-23]
therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. the old has passed away; behold, the new has come. [2 cor 5:17]
nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. [matt 5:15]
