some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. [psalm 20:7]

today, i want us to meditate on this verse. the idea of meditate is very biblical. it is used 19 times in the book of psalms alone – ps 1:2, 19:14, 38:12, 49:3 to name a few.

to meditate literally means to move over and over. it comes from a hebrew word picture of a cow chewing his cud. in that process, food is chewed, swallowed, brought back up, chewed again and … the point, it is a long process of working over the food to get it ready to digest.

practically for us to meditate can mean to pray, to read the text, to pray more, read again, pour over, pray, ask questions. the point, it is a long process of allowing God to work over the text in our heart and mind.

today, i want you to meditate on psalm 20:7.

enjoy the process with God as he speaks through his word.

give him time … and enjoy the real and powerful presence of the LORD.

please LORD, hear our prayers. meet us with your presence and speak through your word. give us patience to wait on you, to be still and know that you are God. come Lord Jesus, come!
