the Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? [psalm 27:1]

psalm 27 starts with the powerful statement that the Lord is our light and our salvation, and that he is the stronghold of our lives.

the author of this psalm, david, then goes on to lay out a variety of situations in his own life that the Lord has been his light, salvation, and stronghold.

when evildoers assail him, when armies are encamped against him, and when his own family forsakes him.

because david has experienced the Lord as his light, salvation, and stronghold, he trusts the Lord with his future.

he can confidently say:

[13] i believe that i shall look upon the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living!
[14] wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!

today, i challenge you to list out 3 specific times the Lord has been your light, salvation, and stronghold. write them down, and use this as a reminder of how the Lord has cared for you in the past, and therefore you can have confidence he will care for you in the future.
