and whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace.” [daniel 3:6]

we were made to worship.

the question is – what will you worship?

what will you bend your knee to?

what will you give yourself to?

what will you give your heart to, your affections to, your thoughts to?

today – o LORD,

save us from our flesh that longs to give ourselves to that which satisfies for a moment. save us from the world that calls us to give ourselves to that which satisfies for a season but eventually leaves our soul empty and hurting. and, save us from satan who woes us to give ourselves to that which promises to satisfy but never does. deliver us from these temptations and grow our delight in you – the only one who truly satisfies our soul.

delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. [ps 37:4]

those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. [ps 34:5]

o taste and see that the Lord is good. [ps 34:8]

how precious is your steadfast love, O God! the children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. they feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. [ps 36:7-8)

you make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. [ps 16:11]
